Fayetteville Technical Community College now a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Two-Year Education

The announcement coming in form of official mail from the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) designates Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC ) a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Two-Year Education through academic year 2023.

According to the letter:

“[Fayetteville Technical Community College’s] ability to meet the increasing demands of the program criteria will serve the nation well in contributing to the protection of the National Information Infrastructure. The President’s National Strategy to Secure Cyberspace,14 February 2003 and the International Strategy for Cyberspace, May 2011, addresses the critical shortage of professionals with these skills and highlights the importance of higher education as a solution to defending America’s cyberspace. Like all nations, the United States has a compelling interest in defending its vital national assets, as well as our core principles and values, and we are committed to defending against those who would attempt to impede our ability to do so. Education is the key to promoting these ideals.

FTCC has excelled in supplying today’s workforce with graduates prepared to tackle an ever-changing battle, securing information as it travels by 1’s and 0’s.

In recent years, FTCC has become a power-house for those looking to enter the cyber security realm. From opening the Cyber Defense Education Center to partnering with the Fayetteville / Fort Bragg ISSA chapter, FTCC is dedicated and driven to academic and professional excellence in cyber security.

The Fayetteville / Fort Bragg ISSA extends a congratulations and a job well done to those at FTCC who made this achievement happen. Noteworthy are the incredible students and board-members of the student ISSA on campus who go above and beyond the classroom to make an impact on the cyber community.

Certificates will be presented during a designation ceremony in June of 2018 at the National Cyber Summit to be held in Huntsville, Alabama.
